12 Bookworm Problems

I am a massive bookworm. I love reading books and escaping the real world and enter a fictional one. Reading makes me so happy because I can just get lost into the pages of a book and forget about all the problems of really life.

However, like with many things there are a few problems many bookworms like myself have to face.

1. So many books to read
There are so many books out there of all different genres and the sad truth is we probably won't be able to read them all. No matter how big your book collection is there is always another book out there which could be apart of your favourite genre and you don't own it. There are so many books I want to read. I have a huge reading list of books which I own that I want to read but there's also books which are on my Amazon wish list that I want to read to. It's complicated but you'll always find another book to read.

2. Not enough time to read
I wish I could spend all day just reading books but sometimes life has to come first. Whether you need to go to work, school, university or even clean the house and do your chores it means that sometimes you don't have time to read. It is sad that life has to come first but there's always a chance to squeeze in a chapter or two if you feel like it or have the time to.

3. The dreaded reading slump
All bookworms will have heard and lived through the reading slump. It is where you have just finished a good book and you want to read again but you're just not into it because you're still pining over the last book you read or you just are not in the right mindset to pick up a book and read. It is hard when you are in the reading slump because you do want to read but you just can't get into a book. Then you start thinking random thoughts like "Will I ever read again?" "Is this it for me?" "I have so many books to read". I promise you though if you love reading and have loved reading for a while then you will eventually get back to reading. If you are really in the reading slump just pick up a book you've read before and re read it because that might make you want to read more. For me that would be picking up any of the first three Harry Potter books because they're smaller than the others and not too overwhelming. Plus any excuse to read Harry Potter is just perfect.

4, Not Enough Room For Your Books
You may come across the struggle of not having enough room for your books on your bookshelf. This can be really sad but it happens because you have a big collection of books. However, this can be turned around by reorganising your bookshelf so that all your books fit onto it. I don't know if this is just me or if other book lovers feel this way but I love reorganising my books because it is so satisfying when you finish and you just look at your newly organised books.

5. Glancing at the next page and seeing a spoiler
It is the worse because now you know what it going to happen next and it just sucks because it's not a surprise anymore. This tends to happen to me on the last two pages of a chapter. I'll be reading then my eyes will just glance to the last sentence of the chapter and then I see the spoiler. It's not one of those spoilers that you don't expect to happen in the book so you're in complete shock and sadness by the fact you just spoiled the chapter for yourself.

6. Finishing a book series and not knowing what to do with your life
The problem with a book series especially a long one like Harry Potter is the finishing of the last chapter of the book. You've been so engrossed with the characters for so long that you don't think you can read another story for a while. This is one of the causes of the book slump because you're still pining for the previous story and characters.

7. Spending all your money on books
Going on Amazon is like torture because as I'm always buying books from there then it always recommends me more books which I want to read. My wish list on Amazon has about 30 books on it. It's just so difficult not buying a book from there and don't even get me started on when I walk into Waterstones. I don't think I could ever leave Waterstones without buying a book.

8. The big TBR pile
Every bookworm has a big tbr pile of books we own but have not read yet and you try to get through them but suddenly you see a recommendation of a book which you find interesting so you end up getting it. I have this problem where I've bought books and as I've bought a few it means my TBR pile is getting bigger and bigger every time.

9. When someone wants to borrow your book and you're not so keen to part with your books
It's nice that someone wants to borrow one of your books but you can't help but worry about when they'll give it back to you or the possibility they might damage it. Sometimes you're just not keen to part with your books because they are like your babies.

10. Always carrying a book with you
You never know if you'll be going somewhere and there might be a time when you can read. I have this problem sometimes where I weigh my bag down with a book but it's worth it if there is a time where I have time to read and I actually have a book with me. Though sometimes it's those times where you left your book at home and you think about how you can use this time to read a book but you don't have the book.

11. When you lose your place in the book
It is the worse thing to happen because it is a struggle to find the page and the chapter you were on without spoiling the book.

12. When nobody understands why you have so many books
It's hard because you just love your collection of books and nobody gets that. They just think you should give some away but you know that is not going to happen because your books are like your babies. Plus you're proud of how many books you own and especially if all of them if not most of them you bought with your own money.

13. When the next book in the series is not out yet
It's literally a struggle waiting for next book to see what happens in the series.

My Favourite Book

As you know I am a massive bookworm and I made a post a while back about My Top Ten Favourite Books. Now since making that list I have read even more books and one particular has now become my favourite book.

That book is Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins.

This is the first book in a trilogy which is followed by Lola and the Boy Next Door and Isla and the Happily Ever After. I finished this book series not long ago and they were really good stories but nothing for me compared to the first in the series.

I loved the character of Anna because she just seemed so relatable and the other characters were really interesting like St Clair. I thought his character was really interesting and fun loving. The romance in the story was just so perfect and felt so right. It was more fun loving, cute and happy than the others. There were a few surprises a long the way that I wasn't expecting so it just felt so good to read.

I read it within two days because I could not put it down. I just had to know what happens next. I liked that it felt so relatable and the whole story was just on point.

I don't know why I never read this book until recently because it's just so perfect. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a happy, feel good book because this is definitely one of them.

Home Is Where The Heart Is

You know that phrase home is where the heart is well that is so true for me.

As you may have guessed I am about to go home for reading week and I'm so excited. I love going home because it's a break away from university which at times can be really stressful at times. It's just nice to get away sometimes. I've been back at university for nearly two months so it's about time I go home even if it's for just a week. It's still a break away from the stresses of university. Even though university work is still playing in the back of my mind, it's not as overwhelming when I'm at home.

I think what I love about going home is being surrounded by family. Spending time with my mum is literally the best for me. I just love my mum. I also get to see other members of my family as well as my best friend from school too. It's just so perfect and happy in my opinion. Even though I love life at university and being independent, nothing can really beat the comforts of home.

I'm also really looking forward to having baths because in my university house we only have a shower so it's just so nice to be able to have a bath at home. Baths for me are just so relaxing.

Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

I hope you've all had a great day whether you're spending it with your loved one or your friends or family or even if you are spending it alone. I hope your day has been a great one.

I am spending it alone as I am single and all my friends have gone home for a week. I don't mind though because I have finally learned to love myself. Even when I'm alone I can make myself happy. I've actually had a really good day. I've tried to stay off social media because I find social media can be quite stressful and emotional sometimes so I just decided to stay off it day. To be honest I do feel quite content in doing that just forgetting the rest of the world and just focusing on me.

Now for the afternoon as I had two lectures in the morning I decided to get comfortable in some comfy clothes then I decided to glam myself up a bit. I decided to curl my hair and put on my makeup. Even though I wasn't going out anywhere, I just felt like glamming myself for me.

Yesterday I prepared for today by going out and buying some treats for my evening. Here is what I bought. For drinks I bought red grape shloer which is a sort of premium fizzy soft drink that tastes like red grape (obviously). I also bought some diet coke because I had a bottle of malibu at home so for the evening I thought I'd have malibu and coke. Then for some food I bought sweet popcorn as I planned to have a movie night so popcorn seemed like the perfect choice. I then bought some red grapes as it's a healthy snack and maltesers because I wanted some chocolate.

As you may have guessed I decided to have a movie day because I thought why not,. I deserve a break from university work and to just have a day to myself. So far I watched the live action Peter Pan because I haven't seen it in ages and I forgot how much I loved that movie, I also lit a few candles in the living room because candles just makes the whole room feel cosy.

When I was watching Peter Pan, a leaflet came through my door from Dominos which made me decide to get a Dominos. I got a personal 7" meteor pizza with some chicken strippers and potato wedges. That arrived within half an hour and it was amazing.

Now I'm just curled up in the armchair with my mermaid blanket watching Bridget Jones Baby eating popcorn but while eating popcorn I thought I'd make this post. I just wanted to say that even if you are single and alone like me on valentines then don't wollow in self pity just make a day of it to treat yourself and make yourself happy. That's exactly what I've done.

How I Wind Down and De Stress

Create distractions for myself so my mind is focused on something else.

Tidying my room/house

I don't know about you but tidying my house or even my bedroom is just a big distraction for me. My mind is just so focused on tidying that anything else on my mind just fades away for a bit. I also love the end result when your bedroom or even the house is just tidy because it looks and smells so nice. I also love trying new ways to organise my things and I always end up watching YouTube videos for organisation tips because I find them to be really helpful sometimes. There's just something satisfying about an organised space or room.

Making my room cosy

This is one of the ways which is kind of an essential for my winding down time and that is to make my bedroom cosy by turning on my fairy lights and lighting a few candles. It just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and honestly my bedroom is like my happy place because it's all mine and I'm surrounded by all the things I love. It also feels nice to sit on my bed and look around my room because I just feel so relaxed and calm in my bedroom.

Turning my phone off and getting off social media

This might me difficult but honestly it really does help. Nowadays everyone is always on their phone and checking up on their social media. It is so time wasting because you could literally spend an hour scrolling through all your social media and then an hour has passed. It also can cause stress because you might see something which could make you stressed for example a picture of your friends doing something that day which you weren't a part of. That can lead you to overthinking and getting stressed out over nothing because there's nothing you can really do about it. It might just be the timing or the place which is the reason but either way it's nothing you should get stressed about. To avoid these emotions just get off social media and turn your phone off for the evening because really you don't need it.

Pamper session

Sometimes it's nice to just have a little pamper session to take care of your body and skin. I start by having a shower or if I was at home I would go and have a bath. Next I would do a face mask if I can be bothered or moisturise my face. Either way just doing the little things to take care of your skin is de-stressing and honestly there is nothing more relaxing than taking off your make up from the day and letting your face breathe.

Playing video games

This might seem a bit random but lately I have found playing a video game is so relaxing. My mind is just focused on what's going on in the video game that I don't have time to think about anything else. It also makes me smile when I progress within the game. Even though many say playing video games is bad, it's not really depending on how much time you play on them but they can be a great distraction. Don't ask why but sometimes I have my laptop next to me with YouTube on and a listen to the walkthrough of the game with commentary. Even if it's a game like Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on PS1 which I have played multiple times and know all the secrets to it, I still like to listen to the walkthrough and just have the commentary in the background because it is entertaining to listen to them and also it kind of makes the game more enjoyable.

Watching a movie

Sometimes it's just nice to be in your cosy room and watching a movie because it allows you to focus on the movie and enjoy it. Especially if it is a movie you love because you know you'll enjoy it so you focus on it more rather than anything else.

Reading a book

This may come as no surprise to some of you but I love to just lay in bed just before I go to sleep and read a book. My mind is just lost in the world of the book and it just makes me so happy. When I'm reading, I think of nothing else and that is the best way for me to de stress is to just read a book.

Library Study Session Essentials

As many of students will tell that you will have a more productive study session in the library rather than in your bedroom (even if you are working on your bedroom desk, you will not be as productive).

In my opinion working on assignments or studying for exams is a huge benefit to me and makes me even more productive than if I was in my bedroom. I think it's because I'm surrounded by other people who are working to and in the library (my library does this and I'm sure others do) but there's different floors dedicated to the noise level. There's a floor for group study session which is quite loud, there's a slightly quiet floor and then there's the top floor which is the very quiet floor which is where I go to do my work. I don't like to be distracted when I'm working because I like all my focus to be on the work so for me working in a quiet area where there aren't many people talking is a really help for me.

Now I thought I'd share my library study session essentials for those of you who are planning on having a study session to work on your assignments or to study for your upcoming exams I have a list of all the essentials you will need so here we go.

1. A computer/laptop
Now in my library there are loads of computers which I like to use because for all of my assignments I need to work on the computer. Sometimes though the library can get busy and a lot of students will be using the computers and you might not be able to use one so I suggest bringing your laptop to work on your assignments just try to stop yourself from going on social media or you'll get distracted.

2. Paper and pens
I like to bring the good old fashion paper and pens to my study sessions in the library because sometimes I want to make notes for myself and I find scribbling notes down on paper is easier because it's there beside you as you work and it's just handy to have.

3. Memory stick
Bring your memory stick to the library because there is nothing worse than your computer shutting down unexpectedly and you have lost all the work you've done. Take a memory stick and back up your work to it so that if your computer unexpectedly does shut down then you will have your work backed up. Also remember to save regularly on both your computer and memory stick because it can suck if you haven't saved and you lose all your work.

4. Drink and snacks
Before I go to the library, I end up going to the student union to buy a sandwich and a drink so that I have something to eat in the library because you never know how long you're going to be in the library and you might get hungry.

5. Post it notes
Post it notes are really useful as you can use them to mark down pages which are useful to your work. Also if you need to scribble down a quick note or you remember something or even if you need to give yourself a reminder then you can just scribble it down onto a post it note and place it somewhere where you can see them.

6. Books
Now you'll probably need reference some stuff in your assignments so I suggest going around your library and getting the relevant books because most of the time you need to back up everything you say so you may as well find the relevant references to help you and you will definitely get a better mark for it.

7. A study playlist
I don't know about you but I don't like to work in silence so I'll either look up a study playlist on Spotify or I will listen to the Titanic soundtrack because there's no lyrics on it just music and so it allows me to concentrate on my work more as there's no lyrics just music.
