How to have a productive day

We all have days where we need to be productive and actually do some work. Whether it's school work, university assignments or revision. Now is mostly the time you need to be productive because it's nearing the end of the academic year where there are exams and final assignments to be done. So we all need to be productive. The best time to be productive is during the day not late at night. Here's some tips on how you can have a productive day.

1. Wake up early
As much as we all love a lie in but this way you can have more time in the day to do your work. It doesn't have to be like 6am. 9am is fine as well.

2. Eat breakfast and check social media once, respond to emails.
Do eat breakfast because it really does give you energy for the whole day. Do check social media to see if anything has happened and respond to emails if you have any. Then turn your phone off and put it on the other side of the room. Social media is the biggest reason people procrastinate. You can check it again in the evening.

3. Plan your day
Whether you planned your day the night before or our planning it in the morning after breakfast. Make sure you have a clear idea what you need to get done during the day. I like to make to do lists and cross off things I've done as I go along. I feel that's the best way to get things done.

4. Get dressed
As much as I'd love nothing better than to lounge around in my PJs all day I feel most productive when I'm actually washed, dressed and just ready to do stuff.

5. Go for a walk
You read correctly. Go for a walk. Whether it's to the shops or you need to walk your dog. Go for a walk. This way you've had some fresh air because you're probably going to be stuck inside for most of the day so get some fresh air first.

6. Check off the little tasks
Do the little tasks that won't take as much time and are out of the way. This could be stuff like laundry or washing up dishes, cleaning your room. Responding to emails. If you get the little tasks done out of the way then they won't be sitting in the back of your mind while your doing the more important tasks.

7. Do the most important task first
Usually this could be one that has the nearest deadline. Get it done first. If you don't get it done then you'll be stressing out the night before it is actually due. Even if it's the worst one. Do it so then it is at least done and dusted so you don't have to worry about it any more.

8. Take a break at lunchtime
You know in school where you had a lunchtime. Well think of it like that. You need a break and you also need to eat too. so just take a break for half an hour. Relax a little. Avoid social media if you can. You don't want to be distracted by it because before you know it it'll be 6pm and there goes your productive day.

9. Continue the first task or do the second & third task
I don't know how fast you work and manage to get the first task done but if you are lucky enough to finish the first task then do the next one. Don't stop there. You will feel like you've accomplished if you do most of your tasks today.

10. Take mini breaks
Make sure you take mini breaks. If you've worked for an hour take a 5-10 minute break. Just so you can relax a little. Otherwise if you work non stop with no breaks you may be stressed out and lose your mind. You also may want to quit doing your task before you've even finished.

11. Finish up what you're doing at around 5/6pm
If you've worked for over 6 hours then you can finish up because you've done enough for the day. Pat yourself on the back and give yourself a mini reward. You will feel so good knowing how much you've done. Now you can just relax for the rest of the evening.

12. Have dinner
Make sure you do have your three meals of the day and have some dinner. Reward yourself with desert because you've truly earned after your productive day.

13. Make a to do list of what you need to do/finish off for tomorrow
You'll find the list will be shorter then and if you get them done then you do not have to worry about them. You'll feel so proud of yourself if you've had two productive days in a row. Plus you will have done all the tasks you need to do.

14. Do not I repeat do not leave it until the day before it's due
I cannot stress this enough. Don't leave all the work for the day before it's due because it is going to be the most stressful time of your life. Your work might not even be that good because you might not have time to read it over or know what you have to do for it.

I hope these tips were helpful on how to have a productive day. Good luck to any of you doing exams or final assignments. I'll be back this weekend with another post.

See you then guys.
